Activating your account


For Christmas 2023, only London volunteers who require access will be given access to

To activate your account, you will need:
A desktop computer or laptop that belongs to you or a trusted person
A Mobile phone (capable of receiving SMS messages or installing apps from the Apple App Store / Google Play Store)
This process will take 5 - 10 minutes to complete.
Account activation should be quick and easy but we understand can be a bit daunting if it is your first time. We are here to help you if you have any problems -


We recommend using either or to complete this.
To avoid interference from browser add-ons such as ad-blockers, you may want to follow this process in an Incognito / Private Browsing mode.
You can find the instructions for opening them here:
1. Go to on your computer. On the webpage, click Sign In.
Already signed in elsewhere? Click on the profile photo on the top right and click Sign Out.
If you would like to keep your login separate from your other accounts, follow to set up a Browser Profile first.
2. Enter your account name as displayed in the email, and click Next.
3. Copy and paste the temporary password from the activation email to the Password field, then click Next.
4. You will be prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication. Click Next.
5. You should now see this screen on your computer. Click on I want to set up a different method below.
6. On this dialog, choose Phone, and click Continue.
7. Enter your phone number in the box below. The form defaults to United States as the country code; remember to change this to United Kingdom (+44).
8. You will be sent an SMS code to your phone. Enter the 6-digit code in the input below, then click Next.
9. Your phone number is now verified. Continue clicking Next.
10. You will be asked to change your password. Change your password to a secure password.
Microsoft, our service provider, blocks common passwords (like password and 12345678) from being used as hackers can easily guess these passwords. for a guide on how to create strong passwords.
11. (optional) If you want to stay signed in to the current browser, click Yes, otherwise click No. Do not use this option if you are on a shared computer (including IGELs on site!)
12. Setup is now complete. To test the login, go to ; you should now be able to access our Microsoft Teams instance.

How to Log In

To sign into Microsoft Teams from your own computer, go to . Enter your email and password as prompted.
Every time you log into your from a new device, you will be asked to approve the sign-in from the phone. You can choose either Text or Call to receive the SMS code.
When you see this, enter the 6-digit verification code sent to you.
NOTE: Only tick "Don't ask again for 90 days" on a computer that belongs to you - don't do it on a shared computer (including IGELs on site)!
